Visitors enjoy Missouri’s First Black Resort
The land has a way of speaking to people — and those who have made their way to the historic Turner property in Lake Placid, Missouri, have come back with stories.
Since C.A.L.L. began its work to restore and honor the legacy of Missouri's First Black Resort, visitors from across the region have walked the grounds, stood by the lake, and connected with a history that was nearly forgotten. Students, researchers, community members, faith leaders, and friends of the organization have all made the journey — each bringing their own curiosity, and leaving with something they didn't expect.
The photos below capture some of those visits. Every group that comes helps build the case that this place matters — and that the community is ready to see it restored.
